Plant of the Month – Dwarf Pampas Grass

Cortaderia Selloana photoIn full flower this Month Dwarf Pampas Grass is a super tough, long-lasting garden plant, which will almost look after itself. Cortaderia Selloana ‘Pumila’ is a more compact variety, staying at just 1.2m (3.9′) and is much more manageable than its larger cousin. Both varieties are ideal for planting in exposed open gardens where they will provide shelter for other neighbouring plants and also create a stunning show of colour in autumn & early winter.

The tufted evergreen plants of Dwarf Pampas Grass are perfect for filling a gap in a border and ‘Pumila’ is good for small gardens too. Plants give all year interest for the garden, although are at their best in October when the silvery plumes appear from the very centre of the grassy plants.

Their height and spread is 1.2m (3.9′). They are easy to grow, are ideal for all locations and soils and provide reliable colour each and every autumn.
